PS CS 5 on new MacBook Air

I Have an older MBP with CS5 running on it.  Also had a MBA that ran CS5 as well.  No problems.  Sold the MBA hoping the MB would be my travel answer.  It was not, so I bought another MBA.  I cannot open CS5 on the new MBA.

After 2 days of attempts with Adobe "chat", I was told it is no longer supported.

Of course the last frustrating thing the last Chat Tech told me was You can upgrade to CS 6 from CS5!  AHHHH!!!!!  Only after an hour telling he or she I could not open CS5!

Should I purchase CS6 or is there a way to get CS5 to work?

I am running Sierra 10.12.2

Thanks,

Wandering Bob

Hi Wandering Bob,

While there is no guarantee you will be able to wander with an older program like CS5 on a spankin' new operating system like Sierra, many folks are able to get it to work. However, you do need to do a bit of a workaround, which is laid out in this help document: Installing Creative Suite on macOS 10.12 (Sierra) (scroll down for CS5 instructions). I would definitely try that before purchasing CS6 (which, incidentally, Adobe chat will also not support).

Let us know if you have questions or need additional assistance.

I don't have the link handy, but I was recently told in another discussion that Adobe has completely stopped selling CS6

Wow, looks like you're right, John.  "As of January 9, 2017, Creative Suite is no longer available for purchase," according to Creative Cloud now includes Creative Suite Master Collection and Design Premium features.

So, yeah Wandering Bob... let's get that CS5 working on the new lappy.
