PS Elements 9-log file?

I installed a copy of Photoshop Elements 9 from a disk onto my Vista 64 operating system computer.  I later removed it to see if it was conflicting with my new Epson Perfection V500 photo scanner that I could not get to work.  I installed the PS Elements software and the scanner software onto an old Windows xp computer to see it would work. (It could).  Now I want to reinstall the PS Elements 9 on my Vista 64 os computer because that is where I want to use it.  But I can't, am getting the message "error opening installation file.  Verify that the specified log file location exists and is writable."  Exactly what log file would they be referring to?  And is there a solution? Thanks

What process did you go through for uninstalling Photoshop Elements 9 previously?   Are you trying to install Photoshop Elements 9 directly from the CD?

I hit the start button, hit "control panel", then "programs and features", "uninstall or change a progam", highlighted the PS Elements and" uninstalled".  Yes I am trying to install PS elements 9 directly from the CD.  However I did try copying all the Cd to my hard drive, then tried to install from it.  Got the same "error opening installation file,........" Appreciate your assistance.

You can try checking the permissions on the install log files.  You may also be able to find more information regarding what is causing your installation failure.  You can find details on how to locate and interpret your log files at Troubleshoot install using logs | Elements - http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/troubleshoot-install-using-logs-elements.html.
