Re: How can I deactivate my Adobe software?

I have CS 5.5 Production Premium for Mac. The computer it was installed was stolen. I would like to deactivate the serial key. I do not have access to the computer to deactivate it manually. I have contacted the webchat 3 times after reading the following on the Adobe forums:

Don't have access to your previous computer? Did you upgrade your computer's hardware, replace a hard drive, upgrade your operating system, or format your computer before deactivating your software? Ask Adobe Support to help you deactivate from a machine you cannot access.

Each time, the webchat people have told me to install the software/deactivate/deinstall which is impossible as i don't have the computer. They said they cannot help me if i can't install it.

What do I do?

    Branching to a new discussion.

Petew68638946 it is not possible to deactivate Creative Suite 5.5 on a computer that you no longer have access to.  If you install Creative Suite 5.5 on your new computer, and exceed the amount of allowable activations, then please contact our support team at Contact Customer Care.

Have you installed Creative Suite 5.5 on the new computer Petew68638946?  If so did you receive an error message that you had exceeded the amount of allow activations?  You can find more details regarding the activation process at Learn to activate or deactivate Adobe applications.

    Hi Jeff,

I am not installing it on a new computer as I don't have the money to spend on a MAC, I just want to deactivate it so it's no longer in my name and the thief can't use my registered copy of CS 5.5.

Are you saying that in this scenario, if a laptop is stolen, the only way to deactivate the software is to buy a new MAC just so I can go through the deactivation process? And that Adobe do not have ANY facility or procedure in place to help a customer in this situation?

No Petew68638946.  The license is still tied to your account.  There is no action required for you to install on the new computer however unless you exceed the amount of allowable activations.  If you have additional questions I would recommend contacting our support team directly at Contact Customer Care.
