Re-installing Creative Suite 3

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help please?

I've been running my original copy of Creative Suite 3 quite happily on a Macbook Pro for many years until my machine suffered a complete CPU failure a few days ago. So, no problem I think, as I have a complete back up via Time Machine on an external hard drive. I purchased a new iMac and migrated everything onto this. No problems with any of the software such as Quark Xpress and Microsoft Office which all worked fine, re-registered and updated to the latest versions.

However, when I tried to open Photoshop or any other of the elements of CS3, it only allows me to use a five day trial version - trying to activate does not work on the internet and the product is no longer supported by phone. I headed for the Adobe site, signed in, followed the instructions, received a new serial number and downloaded the new apps. However the problem is that I cannot de-register the original number (as the machine it was on is dead) and even downloading the new apps, my new machine still thinks that I'm trying to use the old software and will not allow me to de-activate it before installing and activating the new apps.

I've tried to contact adobe but Live Chat seems to be the only way and that constantly shows as not available. I wonder if anyone can please help?

PS I still have the original box with complete set of discs and serial numbers. Ta!

    Hi Pablowatercolour,

Sorry that you are having trouble installing your Adobe product, old software's like Adobe CS3 are not tested on latest operating systems by Adobe hence they may or may not work.

Please let us know if you completely remove the installed version of Creative Suite 3 before installing the new version available at Activation or connection error when starting CS3 or Acrobat 8.

If not then Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems.

You may also try troubleshooting steps shared in the below threads and see if that helps:

CS3 - Still getting Activation Error Message with new Installer

Downloaded the new version of Creative Suite 3 and it does not work

Kindly update us with the results, awaiting your response.

Hi Bani and thanks for your reply. I've tried all this, run the Creative Cloud Cleaner etc but the problem persists.

On the thread it also mentions removing a cache file from the Program Files folder but for the life of me I cannot find this anywhere on my Mac. Am I missing something blindingly obvious?
