Re: Reinstalling Lightroom 6 upgrade

I am running into this issue. I have a serial number for Lightroom 6 that was purchased as an upgrade from 4. I am trying to reinstall 6 and the installer prompts me for the serial number from version 4, which I no longer have any record of since I bought the old version boxed many years ago and never considered I might need the serial again after I upgraded to the newer version. How can I reinstall 6 without providing the number for the old version?

    Hi Mikhailahoward,

To install and activate an upgrade version of any Adobe Product you will require the serial number for the previous qualifying product.

What is a qualifying product? Installing an upgrade of an Adobe product requires a qualifying previous product — a previous full version of the product that you bought and installed on your computer. If the previous version of the product exists on your computer, the upgrade starts automatically. If the upgrade installer can't find a previous version of the product on your computer, it asks you to enter the serial number of your previous product.

To search for the serial number of Lightroom 4 you may refer to the following help document: Find your serial number.

    Hope this helps.

If you originally registered your product the serial number will be stored in your Adobe Account.

Sign in with your Adobe ID (email address & password) and choose the tab “Plans & Products”

Then view your products. Every registered application should be shown with serial numbers.

To see a list of your registered products and their serial numbers, go to My Account

If not, it may be possible to recover the serial number from the system folders:

On Mac in the user library or on Windows in ProgramData

    /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Lightroom 4.0 Registration

    C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Lightroom\Lightroom 4.0 Registration.lrreg
