Re: Upgrading to CS6 from CS5.5

If I get Master Collection CS 6 as an upgrade from 5.5 via the Creative Cloud membership, will it continue to work if I discontinue the CC membership? I'm with the OP. I use this software for hobby purposes and have no interest and find it not feasible to invest the $$$$ into the CC membership. I would simply be interested in upgrading to CS 6.

Thanks,

Ken

No, CS6 would stop working when you discontinue your CC membership.

You would not be upgrading your CS5.5 license. You would be getting a Cloud membership and having access to CS6 as part of that membership. But the Cloud subscription terms still apply: discontinue your membership and you lose access to the Cloud software, including CS6.

For hobby use, have you tried Photoshop Elements?

This is for hobby use, however I have a degree in Digital Effects and Animation. I would miss some of the functions not available in Elements. I'm happy with what I have. I'm not sure an upgrade to CS6, if it were possible, would really give me any major benefit. Also, I have the Master Collection, not just PS.

I do remember Adobe stating when they started the subscription service that CS6 would remain for sale, I'm not 100% sure of the wording, either indefinitely or forever. I suspected at the time that would not be the case. I do understand the subscription service is an attempt to control pirating of the software. I also have no doubt it has increased Adobe's profit margin.

But for hobbyist and even some small businesses the price of Adobe subscription isn't possible. Even one of the local community colleges stopped teaching Adobe software. They now teach Graphic Design on Corel. Adobe needs a different solution for hobbyist and small businesses.

    Thanks for the reply.
