Reactivating Elements12 & Lightroom

I had to reformat my laptop & forgot to deactivate Elements 12 & Lightroom 5. Having reinstalled them on the laptop I cannot activate Elements or register Lightroom. It keeps saying that the programs cannot connect to the Internet but all other connections work & clock is set correctly. I keep going round in circles with Adobe help so any help would be much appreciated. Geoff

Geoffoote the steps Kglad offered in messages #1 provide guidance on how to resolve the connection error.  If you have a specific question about a step in the document you are welcome to update this discussion.

Thanks for your help & suggestions. I finally managed to successfully activate Elements 12 by using Offline Activation. I had tried this before without success. I still don't know what I did to change it but it suddenly worked last night. Geoff
