I have gone through these help files and still cannot get the product to work again.

The problem came out of the blue and I received the message, 'The licensing subsystem has failed catastrophically' I then did what was said and I uninstalled and then reinstalled but it froze.

I then followed this advice...

Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6

but it only installs 2 components (Acrobat and Share Components).

I then saw this this ...

The FLEXnet component keeps stopping. Even though I keep starting it, it just stops 1 minute later.

Have Adobe 'revoked' the serial number so that it no longer works?

I have tried installing from both the disc and from download but no joy.

My PC specs...

Windows 8.1

AMD A10-6800k APU

64-bit Operating System

Thanks for looking.

I am sorry Dereks89794921 but I must have misunderstood your response in message #8.  I have no additional suggestions on how to resolve your installation error for Creative Suite 3 on Windows 8.1

Thanks Jeff for your help anyway. I notice on other forums that there seems to be a growing number of people with this problem and no one seems to be able to fix it. I guess nothing nothing lasts forever... back to gimp!

I have tried to install again using the cleaner and turning off Windows Defender and still it only installs the reader and shared components but none of the packages.

Dereks89794921 I would recommend reviewing the installation logs to determine the exact cause of the installation failure.  You can find details on how to locate and interpret the installation log files at Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6, CC.  You are welcome to post any specific errors you discover to this discussion.

Dereks89794921 what Adobe software title are you trying to activate?  What occurred prior to this error occurring?

So sorry, forgot to put that in! It is the complete master suite - CS3. I only need Dreamweaver, Indesign and Photoshop. The error occur after I had designed a flyer on Indesign and had exported to PDF. So thankful that I did! This error affected every product and locked me out. I then did was to follow the instructions on the screen which was to uninstall and then to reinstall. That was when I was unable to reinstall.

Much as I would love to upgrade, as an semi-occasional user for a charity, the cost is now prohibitive.

    Thanks, Derek
