Question

Recent updates doubles everything

Hello all

Almost everytime that I have updated, there always seems to be an issue.

Last time, the whole format of my documents/projects had changed for no sensible reason.

This put me off doing updates as it seems that no one is thinking about what they are doing.

Now, I have updated again, major update of everything and lo and behold, another issue.

I now have double of everything

Indesign 2019

Indesign 2020

The same for all other Adobe products that I have installed.

No one told me that I have to be a computer or software engineer to use these products.

I am a creative person...do I seriously have to sit here and fathom out why my software is playing up so badly ?

Could someone please cast some light on this issue ?

I am using Windows 10, fully updated.

Thanks

Faye

This is not a problem.  This is a necessity to protect you from workflow interruptions.  Owing to Adobe's new version policy, we no longer have access to pre-2019 versions unless we kept them installed on our computer.  Once they are uninstalled, they disappear from Creative Cloud desktop app.

You don't have to be a computer genius to use Creative Cloud.  But at a bare minimum you must be responsible and exercise some common sense.

  1. Don't upgrade during major projects.  Defer that for when you have some free time to learn new software.
  2. Always maintain reliable backup copies of important work files.
  3. Always keep the previous software version installed just in case the new one doesn't work out.  When you are quite certain you will never ever need the previous version, uninstall it.

first try, resetting the cc app: To reset the Creative Cloud desktop app, make sure it's in the foreground, then press:

Win: Ctrl + Alt + R
Mac: Cmd + Opt + R

then restart your computer.  if that fails to resolve the problems, do a clean cc install:

uninstall every cc app including preferences, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-remove-app.html
then uninstall the cc desktop app, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html
clean your computer of cc files per http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
restart your computer (don't skip this)
reinstall the cc desktop app, https://creative.adobe.com/products/creative-cloud.
if you're unable to install the cc desktop app at this stage, use an administrator account (solution 4 here, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/creative-cloud-missing-damaged.html)
use the desktop app to install your cc programs/trials
