The installer starts and goes through all the steps but does not ever ask for a serial number. It 'completes' installation but nothing is on my hardrive. Computer is a MAC book Pro and processor is

GHz Intel Core i7. Running version 10.7 and I have enough avail space. Tried 4 or 5 times and restarted and tried again. Nothing is there? ANy idea why? when I click on LR 4 icon it starts installer again

Seems like some permission issue that is not allowing to write the files to the applications folder.

Try Repair Disk Permissions : http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=DiskUtility/11.5/en/7070.html

You can also ty enabling the root user and installing Lr  on to that.

Enable Root user : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1528

I've heard of a similar case, albeit another program, where the installer had been dragged to the Applications folder and it wouldn't write the application there as a result.  Where's yours?
