registering cs 5.5 to your account

Hello,

Does adobe not support registering older versions of its products to your account? I just deactivated one of our used licenses and installed Creative suite 5.5 on another computer, registered it under our used account, but when I login into it I can only see products that have a subscription.

Another question would be - how/where can I view the license on a PC that has CS 5.5 installed if I don't have a physical box? Need to move another CS 5.5 to another computer, but for this one no one knows its license... Thought that If i would register the product it would show up on our account and I could see the license, hence the first question

To register the product you need the serial number, so registering to find the serial number is not likely going in the right direction.  Normally you can only register a product once, so if they were ever registered before, they won't be able to be registered again.

If it's a Windows machine then try running Belarc Advisor

    http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

For a Mac you can try:

    https://mac-product-key-finder.com/

https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2174645   shows how to find it directly...

If you are on a Mac navigate to:

        Macintosh HD >> Library >> Application Support >> regid.1986-12.com.adobe

Inside the folder “regid.1986-12.com.adobe” you will probably find several files ending .swidtag

        For example: regid.1986-12.com.adobe_DesignSuitePremium-CS5-Mac-GM-en_US.swidtag

Look for the one related to your product and right-click (control-click) on it and choose:

        Open With >> Other

Then choose TextEdit from the list of applications.

For registered products the 24 digit serial number is usually found near the bottom of the text document.

        On Windows navigate to:

        C:\ProgramData\regid.1986-12.com.adobe

        Open in Note Pad

Mac Product Key Finder. Recover lost product keys for Mac applications (https://mac-product-key-finder.com/)

Recovering CS6 serial numbers requires purchasing the Pro version for $30.

Their website says it only works on OS X up to Yosemite - not El Capitan yet.

If you are unable to validate the serial number you can try the following:

    For PC

    1. Open run and type drivers and enter.

    2. Look for etc folder.

    3. Inside etc folder you will get hosts file please open it using notepad. if you find any entries follow this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972034 to fix the hosts files.

    4. Restart the Computer to complete the fix.

    5. Try installing the Software. It should work fine.

    For Mac

    1.Click Go

    2. Go to Folder-type /etc

    3. Open hosts file and if entries are there please make a copy of hosts file on the desktop then delete all entries which says Adobe in it then save it.

    4. Try installing the software again and it should work.
