Reinstalling Fireworks cs3 so I can reinstall fireworks cs6

I've just had my computer wiped and windows 7 restored.  And I want to reinstall fireworks cs6 but because I upgrade over the years I can't just do this I have to reinstall cs3.  I downloaded the software, got the serial number but it won't install on my windows 7 computer.  Can anybody suggest a solution?

You do not need to install CS3.  Just install and activate CS6.  During the process of activation it will recognize that you do not have a qualifying version installed and you will be asked to identify a qualifying version.  In your case you will select CS3 and then provide its serial number.

I feel rather embarrassed . In my defence I've just recently had a whole host of computer issues and with deadlines looming, etc I was feeling a bit frantic.
