Question

Running Creative Suite applications from an external SSD.

I decided to install my apps (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) on an external SSD which works good, however... I can no longer associate file types like .jpg or .eps to automatially open with their corridponding application using "Open With" and applying all. For instance, I want all .EPS files to open with illustrator, but it will only accept applications found on my Mac Mini like "Preview". Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Your system's file manager (Mac Finder) associates file types with apps located on the primary hard drive.

In the absence of apps on the primary drive, you'll have to launch the apps manually.

Hi Nancy, thanks for your reply. The Apps actually launch just fine from the external SSD. The issue I'm having is with jpgs, eps, png, etc. The file association won't let me set them to the appropriate application.

Like I said, file associations are managed by your operating system's Mac Finder.  Consult Apple support below.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
