Question

serial number incorrect (Photoshop Elements 7)

I bought Photoshop Elements 7 in 2009 and registered. I now changed my computer (switched to Win 10), installed it using the program from the Adobe download page and the program works.

However, when trying to register it using the serial number I got with the original purchase email and which is also registered in "My account", I get the message "Serial number incorrect". I tried to contact the Chatroom, but there they were unwilling and unable to help me. Any ideas?

I was told in Adobe Chat:

"The serial number of Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 will not work anymore as its activation has been stopped."

Error "The serial number is not valid for this product" | Creative Suite

First, that software is old enough that it may not work at all with Windows 10... but

An idea that MAY work to install and/or run old programs in Windows 10

    Hello John,

Thanks, but that was not it. I tried two options to have it WinXP compatible, but to no avail. Anyway, the program itself is working fine. I am currently on the trial version and it does everything it should. Only when I try to register, using the serial number that is also in my Adobe account, I get the message, that this serial number is incorrect.

I personally have the suspicion that Adobe blocks older serial numbers from registration to force people to buy a new software (what I certainly will not do).

    Any other suggestion out there?

PS: No, I don't think that software is old: It does not have any moving parts that can wear out and consists only of photons and electrons, that ran be recycled indefinitely. It can only be called old by the standards of a hectic software update, that rushes on average more than one version out per year (I bought PSE7 in 2009 and 6 years later we are at version 14).

That software is old in computer operating system terms... Win10 does not run all old software, which is why I posted the Microsoft link for a possible solution

If the Adobe link I also posted does not help, I have no other ideas
