Serial Number Issues

I just bought a new copy of Adobe Premiere Elements 12 today from a retail store, and upon trying to install it on my computer, I found that the program is saying both the serial number on the box, AND the redemption code that was enclosed in the package are incorrect or invalid. I am positive I am typing the codes in correctly, and tried it a few different times with no success. Any ideas why this is happening?

    The serial number is not on the box.
