serial number seems to be invalid

After installing an Acrobat update I lost the printer called "Adobe PDF" so I decided to uninstall Acrobat 10, download a fresh file Acrobat X and reinstall. Although I have the serial number from my Adobe account, the new installation considers this invalid, so I'm having to run it as a trial version for 3 weeks. Why is my serial number considered invalid?
