Spinning blue meter starting Creative Cloud Desktop for the first time

I'm having trouble getting Creative Cloud Desktop up and running on my Mac.  When I fire up the Adobe Creative Cloud application, it shows an empty window, with a blue circular progress meter.  Eventually it just quits.

The ACC.log shows several calls to INIT_COMM, but a bit later shows an error "REceiveed Termination Message in Communication Client . Breaking from the loop"

I've tried uninstalling, cleaning, removing OOBE folders, etc...all the related suggestions I could find in these forums, but nothing seems to make any difference.  Help please!
