Subscription fee vs. app fee

If I pay the $69.99 fee for Photoshop Elements 2020, will I have to pay another fee next year to get the 2021 version? Therefore, would it make more sense to do the $9.99/month fee for Photoshop & Lightroom, or to do the flat fee of $69.99 for Elements 2020?

Each year there is a new version of Elements released.  You don't have to buy the new version if you don't need any bug fixes or additional features added to the new version and want to continue using the old version.

If you want the new version of Elements (which is a separate program and can coexist on the same computer as the old version), you will have to buy it.

The Creative Cloud Photography Plan is a subscription and you may download the newest versions (and also keep the old versions if you wish, as long as you continue the subscription to the plan) when they are released.

Photoshop Elements is not part of a Creative Cloud subscription... when you pay the one time fee for PE you may use the program for as long as you have it installed on a compatible computer

A Creative Cloud subscription is like rent on an apartment... stop paying and you don't have it any longer
