System password rejected on lightroom classic dowload and install

I have just re-downloaded lightroom classic from creative cloud. When I click "continue" on the installer to enter my system/admin password, the dialogue box shakes, rejecting my password. I have double checked my password in the system preferences and I have even reset the password. The same problem continues. I am using a mac os.
