Hi Nancy,

My first thought around this is that you're likely opening Lightroom Classic from the dock shortcut, but since you've recently updated Lightroom Classic the "CC" has been removed from the .app filename. It is now called "Adobe Lightroom Classic" instead of "Adobe Lightroom Classic CC". This renaming of the application file is what caused the Dock Shortcut to stop functioning.

Essentially, go into your Applications folder > Adobe Lightroom Classic > and Double click the Adobe Lightroom Classic.app file there.

This should start Lightroom Classic, and also create a new bouncing icon for Lightroom in your Dock.

This new icon is the one you want to keep on your dock, so you could right click that new LR icon in the Dock and choose Options > Keep in Dock.

The "Old" no-longer-functioning Shortcut can be removed from the Dock as it no longer points to a working application file.

Right click this LR Shortcut icon in the Dock > Options > Remove from Dock.

Now you should have the new LR Classic icon on your dock, and have removed the older obsolete LR Classic CC icon.

Let us know how this goes.

Regards,

Pete

Hi Nancy,

That message is pretty generic error and can occur under a lot of conditions such as
- The current catalog has become corrupted

- The current installation of Lightroom is damaged

- Some kind of conflict with the video driver on the system

Like others mention, additional details will help us better understand

- Are you on Windows or Mac?

- Had it launched successfully previously?

I'd probably try reinstalling Lightroom Classic as a first troubleshooting step.

Best,

- Dave

It might also be useful to share some more information, i.e. on the hardware you are using and so on ...

How are you trying to open it.  There are at least three ways that I know of.
