I am getting this error message when I try to install creative cloud and other adobe products. I am using a Mac with Parallels Running Windows 10. Tried copying the file onto a folder on my desktop and go the message:

"This application cannot be run from a network drive. Please copy it to a local drive and relaunch it."

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Lauren

For all the people wondering how to fix this:

You have to turn off the sharing features under:

1. In Parallels - open: Settings Icon (top right) > Options > Sharing

2. Turn off all the sharing (maybe it also works one-way - haven't tried out)

I suspect that as long as the sharing is turned on, your windows folders are getting treated as network drives (shared from the mac os). You can still copy and paste files between the OS's.

And once again it shows that Adobe-Staff post lazy answers to the problems of their customers... it took me 5 minutes to find this out.

If you're running in Parallels the desktop might be a shared (network) drive. Copy it to a new folder that is definitely on C. Worked for me.

I came here to share my success too.
The error message says it cannot run apps from the shared folder. Those folders like Desktop, Documents, Downloads, and others are not native Windows folders but common folders with Mac's.

I copied the installer to "C - Program Files" folder, double-clicked and vualá!

Now I'm going to the other forums and comments under videos to spread the world the truth! Lol! ))

Lauren, what Adobe application are you trying to open?  Are you using the application under Parallels or macOS?  If you are running it under macOS, then what version of macOS do you have installed?

We do not recommend moving Adobe applications, but instead, recommend installing them to the desired location.  When you moved the software to your desktop, where did you move it from?

Hi Jeff!

Thanks for the quick response. I have Adobe Creative Cloud apps downloaded on my Mac iOS interface but I am looking to add it to the Windows 10 Parallels interface as well.

Originally, I downloaded onto the windows portion and tried to execute, when it popped up with the error message. I attempted from the Mac portion and the same pop up occurred.

Lauren, I would recommend you begin the process again and follow the steps listed in Learn how to download your Adobe Creative Cloud apps to install the applications through the Creative Cloud desktop app.

If you receive any new errors then please update this discussion.  You can also find details on how to post a screenshot at FAQ: How do I capture and post a screen shot or video? .
