Transferring CS6 Student Version Creative Suite to New Mac

Hi All,

I've searched through several forums and I am still unable to find a complete answer for my issue.

Background:

  1. Student version installed on a late 2011 MacBook Pro -> new MacBook Pro doesn't have a disk drive so I used the installation files from this Adobe page: Download Adobe Creative Suite 6 applications
  2. Downloaded Premiere Pro (both files)
    1. Once installation was complete. I opened file 1/2 and selected "install". Immediately received an error: "Installer failed to initialize. This could be due to a missing file. Please download support advisor to detect the problem".
  3. Searched more forums. Found this one that addressed the issue: Re: CS6 - Installer failed to initialize. Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem on Mac OS Sierra
    1. No dice. Didn't work.

Some things that I noticed.

  1. I have "Creative cloud files" on my computer from when I tried another method of downloading CS6 and using my serial number to activate it on this new computer.

Thank you for any and all help. More than happy to add any additional details.

CS6 and earlier programs HAVE NOT BEEN TESTED AND WILL NOT BE UPDATED for Mac El Capitan or newer operating systems

-which means that you try to use CS6 and earlier at YOUR risk of having problems due to Apple updates

-this is about the 4+ year old CS6, but it will probably apply to other programs of that age

-Apple did not maintain backward compatibility with old programs in El Capitan or newer operating systems

--Adobe has a workaround to Apple's problem of not maintaining backward compatibility

--READ HERE https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2301916 for an Adobe solution to installing old programs, including a link to installing the old Java runtime that is required
