Question

Transferring Photoshop to a new Mac with unknown Adobe ID and no serial#

My high school had a laptop program which included a number of Adobe apps being downloaded for us. We graduated with those macs in hand and two years later I'm in the market for a new one.

Question being, can/how do I move Photoshop CS6 over to a new mac if I don't know the serial number and it must have been bought under my old school's Adobe ID?

I'm going to get everything backed up on an external hard drive, but I'm afraid trying to drag it over from the drive to the new computer will mess something up and I won't be able to use it anymore. Since I graduated some time ago I don't know if the tech department there will have records of that kind of thing. Long story short, I don't mind leaving the other programs like Illustrator and Flash behind, I just want to know if I can copy over this version of Photoshop I have now.

you can't.

you can try migrating but a quick glance at these forums shows there are a lot of problems using apple's migration tools.

the only reliable way to get adobe programs running is to properly install them using the installation files and you need a valid serial number for that.
