trial has ended - purchased plan - cannot open PS keeps saying 'trial has expired'

My PS trial ended so I decided to purchase the creative cloud photo plan.  After completing the purchase I tried to open the application, but when I do, I just get a "trial has expired" page with links to "join now" or "license the software".

I have tried uninstalling and installing the app but I still get this page.

    uninstall  your ps trial.

    clean (Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6)

    then download the cc desktop app and install your subscription ps, Creative Cloud Help | Creative Cloud for desktop
