Question

Trialed Lr for 30 days, bought Lr v6 on disc, cannot install, msi.dll error

I just got my retail disc in the mail, and went to install it, got error message:

The procedure entry point could not be located in the dynamic link library. C\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\msi.dll

I drilled down and made sure the driver was enabled.  I followed another process that, if I understand what's going on, activates a driver which looks at the msi link, and determines if it is working.  If working, no error message.  I did not get an error message, so am assuming all is good.

Advise?

Also, should I deinstall the trial version before trying to install v6, or will it automatically reason it's way through it?

Thanks,

John

    No luck.  Thanks, though.

after scanning for viruses and malware, replace your msi.dll, msi.dll free download - DLL-files.com

Well, two steps forward, one step back.

Along with the original error, I would get directed to Adobe to download the installer.  After taking your advice on the free download, the installer loaded.  Woo-hoo!

Not so much woo-hoo, as it turns out.

I trialed v5.xxx.    It worked without issue.  When I decided to purchase the product, I decided to buy v6, instead of buying v5 and upgrading later.

I didn't pay attention to the system requirements of v6.  When the installer loaded, I got another pop up window saying that it could not load on my system, as I am operating a 32 bit system, and it needs 64 bit.    Oh well.

copy the installation files to a desktop directory and reinstall using those desktop files.
