I downloaded an update to Lightroom 3.6 and it hangs up and will not respond when I try to do anything with it. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but have the same trouble. I can't import photos or do anything else with it. What do I do now?

Lightroom is now up to version 6 so, unless you are running a computer with an old operating system, you MAY not be able to reinstall

More details might help... such as computer information and especially your operating system

Sorry for my lack of info. I am running Windows 7. 64 bit.  My camera is several years old too, so new equipment should not be the issue.  I have zero need for all the latest bells and whistles on either OS or LR or PS. I just want to do some basic work, but can;t get LR to even respond. It loads, and as soon as I click on any button, import or otherwise, I get the little spinning circle that indicates something is happening, but it never does anything. After several minutes Windows gives me a message that LR is not responding.  I am obviously not a computer whiz, but things that used to work no longer do with no reason I can discern.

Your camera has nothing to do with installing and running the program, other than the format of picture your camera creates

Your operating system DOES matter... for Win7 right click the Lightroom program icon and/or EXE and select a compatibility mode from the pop up option window

You might also want to go to Microsoft – Official Home Page and search for articles on Windows 7 compatibility mode

Doing Run as Administrator http://forums.adobe.com/thread/969395 [says Encore and also for All Adobe programs] will sometimes fix "odd" errors
