Trying to deactivate Photoshop and Illustrator CS4

I work as  a designer, and in our studio we have four iMacs, two running the latest CC applications, and one each on CS4 and CS5.

As I quite often bring work home, for the past five years I have been using CS4 on an old powerMac G%, using the second licence from the CS4

I have now bought an iMac to replace the G5, and I have installed Photoshop and Illustrator on the new machine using the original discs.

Unfortunately I can't deactivate my old installations in order to activate on the iMac - can't connect to the server, which seems to be a common problem. We don't have a proxy server, and I don't have a firewall on the G5, so how can I do this.

Can someone from Adobe deactivate for me?

No, Janef32406734, an invalid serial number is a separate error.  The error is especially common if you have transfered the applications from one computer to another.  Please verify that you are using your registered serial number.  Complete details on how to locate your registered serial numbers can be found at Find your serial number.

If the serial number is registered and valid then please complete the steps listed in Error: "The serial number is not valid for this product" | Adobe Creative Suite to resolve the error and install Creative Suite 4 on the new computer.

    Hi

We are trying to deactivate on the old mac which is running 10.5.8.

We have installed CS4 on the new iMac, but cannot validate the serial number on that machine - it comes up as invalid which I presume is because we have reached the two machine limit

This is the error message we are experiencing

As you can see, the internet is connected- the error message is superimposed on the web page for the Adobe forum - I photographed the screen rather than a screen shot

Janef32406734, is this error occurring on the new computer?  If so what version of Mac OS is the new computer using?  Did you migrate the previous installation of Creative Suite 4 to the new computer?

This seems to be taking a long while. Replied to Atul on the 2nd June, all has gone decidely quiet.

I can't see how to attach images to a private message - I have photos of the PC, My home office, the software packaging, the serial numbers on that packaging and screenshots of both the error message and the error messgae box overlaying an open Safari browser window showing my Adobe forum content (just to prove I was accessing the internet at the time)

Just what is the problem with simply deactivating the software shown againt my account, so I can reactivate on my iMac?

It seems to me that Adobe have absolutely no interest in their older products. There is no way I am going to take out a monthly subscription to the latest software for home, just not cost effective, so can I have some help please?

Janef32406734, what error are you receiving when you activate Creative Suite 4 on the new computer?  Can you please post a screenshot of the error to this public forum discussion?  Information on how to post a screenshot can be found at FAQ: How do I capture and post a screen shot or video? .

    Hi Janef32406734,

As per the description that you have provided, you have mentioned that you wanted to activate Adobe CS4 on your new iMac and you have already installed Adobe CS4 on your iMac. Could you please try the steps mentioned in this link: - Activate and deactivate Adobe products and let us know if you are able to activate the license on your new iMac.

In case you need further assistance with the serial number, kindly send the serial number using a private message.

    Thanks,

Thanks for your reply, I had already tried the method mentioned - my husband is quite computer ;iterate and has explored many avenues in the last month.

When trying to deactivate via the application, we find it impossible to connect to your servers, so won't work.

Which serial number do you require? That of the iMac, or the programmes we wish to transfer?

    Hi Janef32406734,

Sorry to hear that you are unable to deactivate the application, could you please share the screenshot of the error message that you are getting. As you have mentioned that you encountered issues in connecting with server please try to steps mentioned in this link: - Resolve connection errors with Adobe Creative Cloud and Creative Suite applications.

To assist you further we would need the serial number of Adobe CS4 application that you are trying to activate.

    Thanks,
