trying to update

I'm able to login into the desktop creative cloud app as well as my adobe account on the browser, but when I try to update illustrator and Premiere it won't take my password.  i'm using a student enterprise account through my university as well as a Mac if that helps anybody.  Is there a difference between my password to login to the creative cloud app and the password i need to update the apps themselves?
