Unable to activate CS4 Design Standard with genuine serial from original DVD install

I've reinstalled CS4 on a new computer from the DVDs, but the serial box keeps a red cross and I'm unable to activate.

Meanwhile, I've also tried to deactivate the license on my previous computer but I keep running into the 'Unable to connect' error. I don't it's the issue anyway because I don't have the "too many activation" message

I've contacted live support and they've sent me here.

Yes of course I have the serial on the sticker box, and it also had been registered on my adobe account
