Unable to activate Homesite after moving to new computer

I recently moved Homsite 5.5 to my new computer.  It is Windows 10, as the one before it was.  Homesite worked there, but it was installed many years earlier.  When I tried to open Homesite, I got an activation screen.  I put in my name and the serial number, then, when prompted, put in the upgrade serial number from v. 5.0.  When I tried to submit, the activation screen came back blank.  I tried this several times, but got no better result.  Does anyone know how to get the program to activate, or to work around the activation screen?  I've been using Homesite for many years, and would like to continue to do so.  It's really a shame that Adobe wasn't willing to support it and keep developing it.  I would gladly buy a newly updated version if there was one.  I have Dreamweaver (CS5), but after trying it a few times decided that I much prefer the simplicity of Homesite.  Any help on this would be appreciated.

The web stands still for no one i'm afraid.  Homesite is very outdated.  Too much has changed in web standards since Homesite came out.   If you don't like Dreamweaver,  try Brackets (it's free).

Or use any other modern code editor that understands HTML5, CSS and  JavaScript.
