Unable to install Acrobat

I have OS 10.9.2 and creative cloud. Due to Acrobat crashes I uninstalled the application, but creative cloud still indicates Acrobat XI Pro is up to date, I seem unable to re-install Acrobat. I haven't located an alternate method to download the application. What is the next step?

After all steps listed in reply document, with computer restarts, including clean tool, and re-install of desktop cloud, Acrobat was still listed as up to date. At that point I searched for Acrobat from Mac desktop, found a shortcut to Acrobat, and from there was able to uninstall Acrobat. Have re-installed Acrobat, creative cloud now OK.

Original problem of crash during simple doc search still exists, will have to report elsewhere in these forums.
