Unable to reinstall CS6

I got a new iMac, used Apple Migration Assistant to transfer everything, then erased the hard drive on my old computer. CS6 applications on my new computer wouldn't work. I searched online and found out that I should have deactivated CS6 on my old computer first.

I contacted customer support via chat, and asked to have my old CS6 deactivated. I gave my email address and activation key. The support person confirmed it was a valid application key.

The support person had my download AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool. I ran that, and it said it had cleaned everything off. (Though I noticed a few folders were still on my computer, including InDesign.)

He had me download a fresh installer and asked me to install CS6. When I try to install it, I get a message saying that the installer failed to initialize. The support person asked me to restart my computer and try again. I did so several times but still no luck.

Any ideas?

I was contacted by Adobe, but it seemed like it was a scam. I was told my version of CS6 isn't compatible with Yosemite on my iMac and that I needed to pay $450 for a later version. Plus, they wanted to access my computer and do the installation themselves. Is this legit? The person contacted me via direct message in the Adobe forum, with a username Need Urgent Help. He asked for my phone number and Skype username. He then contacted me via Skype.

I'm still at a loss. I've removed all the Adobe applications, have run AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool, quit all applications, restarted my computer, and tried to run the installer. I still get a message saying installer failed to initialize.

If you havenot tried, please try to perform below steps.

Click on Finder and then hold Command + Shift + G keys on your keypad

It will open Go to folder window, type  exactly ~/Library and click on Go

Then open Application Support > Adobe folders

    Trash AAMUpdater and OOBE folders.

Now click on finder and hold Command + Shift + G keys on your keypad.

This time type /Library and click on Go.

Make sure to remove ~ symbol.

Then open Application Support > Adobe folders.

Trash AAMUpdater, Adobe Application manager, OOBE folders.

Navigate to Finder > Applications > Utilities

    Trash  Adobe Application Manager folders

Run CC cleaner tool once again, check if Adobe Application Manager appearing.

    If yes, clean it.

Then install Adobe Application Manager from

migrating is problematic.  properly install using the adobe installation files.

at this point, uninstall, clean and then install properly, http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html

if you need the installation files,

    Downloads available:

Download and installation help for Adobe links

Download and installation help for Prodesigntools links are listed on most linked pages.  They are critical; especially steps 1, 2 and 3.  If you click a link that does not have those steps listed, open a second window using the Lightroom 3 link to see those 'Important Instructions'.

Thanks much for your answer. Unfortunately, I'm unable to uninstall several of the applications. When I follow step 2 and click on the uninstaller in the Utilities folder, it tells me that the alias can't be opened because the original item can't be found.

What may have happened is that I ran the AdobeCreativeCloudCleaner tool before running the uninstallers. (The technical support person had told me to run the tool and didn't alert me that I should first run the uninstallers.) In short, I did step 3 before step 2 and apparently removed the uninstallers.

So I still have some Adobe CS5/6 applications on my computer. However, when I run the AdobeCreativeCloudCleaner, it doesn't find anything.

Are there some CS5/6 uninstallers that I can download?

you'll reinstall the uninstallers when you install the programs.

so, proceed with installation now.  if you're lucky everything will install without problem and work properly.

if you're unlucky, hopefully at least the uninstalllers will install so you can properly uninstall, then clean and then reinstall again.
