Uninstall problem

I'm trying to uninstall an older version (acrobat pro 7) from my windows XP SP3 machine and I'm getting this "error",

This action is only valid for products that are currently installed

I've google'ed to my hearts content but it seems like lots of people have/had complained about this issue with little to no answers.  I've tried Microsoft's iFixIt tool, it didn't help nor did any of the other "uninstall" programs (revo, ccleaner, etc) - they all give me the same "error".

Any directions/thoughts on how to go about uninstall the application ?

Thanks.

    Hi tft,

If you are unable to uninstall the software via the uninstaller, please remove it manually.

You might want to refer the KB : http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/manually-remove-acrobat-standard-7.html

I've since installed Acrobat XI pro - am I still OK to go through the manual remove procedures or do I need to do something else as a preparation (ie. should I remove acrobat pro 11 or any other adobe application ?).

BTW: the instructions look rather involved !!
