Hello
I just tested the simple removal of the file "updaterstartuputility" found in macintosh -> applications -> utilities-> Adobe application manager -> uwa and .... it seems to work !!! Of course, I saved the file elsewhere, as well as the way, if I ever had to put it back on its place !!

The message "UpdaterStartupUntility Crash" has now disappeared,
Adobe Acrobat Reader DC seems to work normally as well as Adobe premiere element 13, after 3 tries and restart of the computer.
(mac mini i7 late 2012, High Sierra, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Adobe Premiere Element 13)

To be controlled by others to be sure ....

Good test to everybody

7 tests after, its always OK, without the crash and the warning "updaterstartupuntility has disappeared". It's not so important but so pleasant

Perhaps was it the good way

I too have had this problem for a bit and at best it's incredibly annoying.  It's frustrating to spend the amount of $$ I do on Adobe to have this happen every time I open my computer.

My thoughts on uninstalling everything?  No.  I've purchased many add-ons and other things (all ok'd through Adobe - Create) that would be difficult to find and install at this point.

I strongly feel this is a customer service issue - I should not have to go through the large amount of time needed to uninstall/reinstall every thing attached to my Adobe products.

I have experienced this problem for awhile and here is my analysis. The Adobe update startup utility crash window appears every time I restart my Mac. I then have to click Ok to get rid of it but otherwise the Adobe CC app loads and all my apps work just fine. This is an annoyance which seems Adobe could easily fix but not a real functioning problem.  So why does this happen and what to do?

i got a notice from Apple awhile ago that said the latest updates to Mohave will not work with apps that aren’t 64 bit. I think Adobe’s StartUp app is 32 bit and when Mohave tries to load it, it crashes. The good news is that all the new CC apps don’t use the old update utility. The Adobe CC app handles things. The legacy Update Utility is still there for people with older OS’s and older Adobe apps. Older OS’s will run 32 bit apps and if this app is needed it will run. Ideally Adobe will just fix that but until they do just ignore the crash and report it to Apple. Somewhere there’s a setting with the ability to turn off the Apple crash notifications which will take care of the annoying message but then you won’t see other notices which you may think useful. I’m just ignoring the problem for now and maybe some day Adobe will fix this. I’m tired of bringing it up to tech support.

I have the same issue for a month. This is definitely program’s bug. I do not think remove everything and reinstall again could solve this problem.

The piece of information from crash report:

Application Specific Information:

abort() called

UpdaterStartupUtility(1996,0x10c9c05c0) malloc: *** error for object 0x7f8b23e007b0: pointer being freed was not allocated

Apparently, Invalid pointer operation causes this crash, it is nothing we can do to solve this problem. Adobe is responsible to fix their buggy program.

I am surprised that Adobe had not fixed this program after a month.

I'm not very surprised. They haven't fixed it because they don't HAVE to. They can just sit back and rake in subscription $$$! I'm pretty certain that the Forums have become Adobe's Soma:

uninstall everything cc including preferences, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-remove-app.html

then uninstall the cc desktop app, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html

clean your computer of cc files per http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html

restart your computer (don't skip this)

reinstall the cc desktop app, https://creative.adobe.com/products/creative-cloud.

if you're unable to install the cc desktop app at this stage, use an administrator account (solution 4 here, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/creative-cloud-missing-damaged.html)

use the desktop app to install your cc programs/trials
