Updating Lightroom 5 to 5.7.1 leaves me with LR 5.0 still

I have just  successfully installed and activated LR 5.0 from the DVD. Then got notified that there is an update to 5.7 available, which I then downloaded from Adobe. The updater seems to be running perfectly and returns with a nice "Installation successful". When starting LR again, I am still on version 5.0.  Any ideas how to mend this?

I was running a trial version of LR 5.7 earlier, which I had to deinstall due to a full HDD, - I have definitely enough space on that HDD left now, about 50 GB.

(Mac OS X 10.8.5)

Regards

Michael

Correct answer John Waller

SNR = serial number?

The 5.0 Serial number will definitely work with 5.7.1.

Have you actually purchased Lightroom 5 and got a serial number? If so, why not uninstall everything and re-install 5.7.1 directly (forget about 5.0)

uninstall lr 5.0 and create a shortcut to lr 5.7 (if that's what you want).

No sorry, that won't help- The SNR that came with LR 5.0 does not work for LR 5.7.1. I wonder why though…  I would then end up with a trial version of 5.7.1.
