updating to CC subscription from CS5.5 + OS from 10.7.5 to High Sierra

Hi

I want to start using the newest OS on my imac along with the CC subscription.

Is it best to uninstall SC5.5 prior to changing the OS?

I am by no mean a tech genius and appreciate being pointed in a good direction. TX!

A friend still runs the old CS 5.5 on a partitioned section of the hard drive. I debated  but concerned about pros vs cons to partitioning - evan with 24 gb memory on my mid-2011 imac
