upgrade/update lightroom 6.0 purchased version to 6.12

I have purchased "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 6" on a CD from Amazon for Mac OS X. The software is running fine under OS El Capitan. As I want to upgrade my OS to Sierra now, I would like to upgrade to  Lightroom 6.12. However, when I select HELP/Update (in my German version: Hilfe/Aktualisieren) in my 6.0 LR version, no upgrade is shown.

Is it possible to upgrade a purchased 6.0 LR version to 6.12?

(I do not want to purchase a monthly subscription, because that is far to expensive for my needs!)

Further is there a chat/community for purchased LR versions here??

(I cannot find any reference to LR purchase versions on the adobe web site. This is really disappointing, as Amanzon is still selling LR versions.)

I appreciate your help!

Lothar

Hello Jeff,

sorry, I really do not understand what I have to do! Isn't there a user-friendly solution to get the update that is necessary for Sierra??

Your link leeds me to 2 steps:

  1. Please uninstall Lightroom using the Adobe Cleaner Tool : Use the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems
  2. And then download and install the updates of Lightroom 6 from the following link : Keeping Lightroom Up-to-Date

Does step 1 mean that I need to completely erase my picture data base??? The link in step 1 is silent on this. Further it tells me to uninstall "Adobe Creative Cloud" (which I don't have), not Lightroom. You really want me to uninstall Lightroom before I run the cleaner? How would I bring back my photos to my computer?

In the cleaner instructions I do not understand the following guidance:

  • From the table, select the app you want to clean up, and then click Cleanup. (Click Clean All to clean up all installer-related files for the version of the CC or CS app you chose in step c.)
(I cannot see any "step c" in the instruction. What do I need to select here?)
  • To verify that the Adobe CC Cleaner Tool completed successfully, in a text editor such as TextEdit, open /Users/[user name]/Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool.log.
Review the log file entries. If any of the entries indicate failure, contact us.
(I do not understand what to open in a text editor. And the reference to contact Adobe means that there is I considerable chance that this all does not work??)

Step 2: The link in step 2 does not directly go to a lightroom 6 update, rather it goes to a Lightroom Journal with various sub-links. Further, Keep your Lightroom version up to date  does not include any update link.

Simple help is highly appreciated!

Lothard75019168 the pictures will not be removed when you uninstall Lightroom 6.  They are not affected in any way during the uninstall process.

I would strongly recommend that you look into installing security software on your Mac Lothard75019168.  You are one click away from possibly having your computer compromised at any time.

Finally, if you are not seeing any clickable links at Keep your Lightroom version up to date  for the Lightroom 6.12 download then please use an alternate web browser.  The current web browser is not displaying the page properly.  This may also be leading to the confusion you have been facing while trying to resolve the U44M2P28 error.

Thanks for the link. I followed it, scrolled down to

      Updates:

            macOS:

and downloaded Lightroom 6.12/2015.12

From my downloads folder I then started the downloaded setup.dmg and finally double-clicked the AdobePatchInstaller.app.

However, I received the message: "Update failed: Updates could not be applied"

The error log looks as follows:

     Lightroom CC (2015.12) / 6.12

Update ist nicht anwendbar. Fehlercode: U44M2P28

What do I have to do to solve the problem?
