Question

Upgraded to Windows 10 & now Photoshop 2018 says to start a trial

Hi, I upgraded to Windows 10 recently from 8.1, but when I try to launch my current version of Photoshop (v19, 2018 version) it says no subscription found for Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 and to start a trial, and trying to follow the "please contact customer support" when I say I have one (it's the Photography Plan (20GB)) it takes me to a page that says "Your Adobe serial number has expired or is invalid". I tried a couple of fixes like signing out of the app, running the limited acces repair tool, if accepting the trial helped, they didn't work.

And then I tried uninstalling it and then installing v22 (oldest version it would allow) and the error seems to stop, but now some of my plugins, etc. are missing, I'm assuming due to age, maybe? Re-installing 2018 version makes my plugins and such re-appear. Unless there's a solution I'm missing for my missing plugins, etc. that you guys know of (couldn't find anything yet), I want to stick to the 2018 version to keep using them.

Is there anything I can do?

for others:

start here - https://helpx.adobe.com/manage-account/kb/stop-creative-cloud-trial-mode-after-purchase.html

if that fails, proceed to these steps - https://helpx.adobe.com/enterprise/kb/resolve-trial-and-license-expired-errors.html

if that fails, https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/adobe-license-issues-keychain-credential-mgr.html

below are solutions some users reported:

if those all fail, change your cc language. eg, try international english - https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/creative-cloud-trial-mode.html

if that fails, change the install location

Hi, unfortunately this was one of the first pages I found and I had followed all the steps (even manually searching for hosts). Is there anything else I can try?

What plugins specifically are giving you issues?  Have you looked to see if there are newer versions?  Also have you tried not using CC 2018 but maybe a later version as Nancy suggested?  There are plenty of versions in between 2018 and 2022 to choose from that may support your newer OS and still support your legacy plugins.

Do you have the installation files for your plugins?

I honestly can't remember as it's been years since I installed them. I'll try to look around but I'm not sure if re-installing them would help, as after installing the new Photoshop to test if the error stopped I saw 2 of them in the list, but none of the others, which is why I was wondering if maybe it was a compatibility issue due to their age.

if you have a non-current os, https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/eol-tls-support.html#sa_src=web-messaging000

otherwise, confirm that you can connect to the secure adobe servers by reading, http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-network-issues.html

do you see both logos? if you can and still see a connection error try these steps, https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/common-network-connectivity-issues.html

if those all fail, white list the adobe network endpoints, https://helpx.adobe.com/enterprise/kb/network-endpoints.html
