I currently have the full version of Lightroom 2.1, which is registered with Adobe. However, it is not installed on my new computer. I also own Lightroom 3 upgrade and it is not installed. Can Lightroom 4 upgrade be installed without physically installing 2.1 on my computer?

No need to physicaly install the older software all you need is there serial number at the time of installtion , when you will enter your lightroom 4 serial it may ask the serial number of the older software , just punch in the seria number and you will be good to go.
