Im using a Mac but looking to upgrade:

1. If I subscribe to the creative suite on the cloud, will I be able to open documents created in CS4 & back save to CS4.

2. Will there be any problems?

3. Any suggestions?

1a) Yes 1b) No. You may, however, save files that are compatible with earlier versions of Adobe programs. That depends from program to program.

2) No. But if there are, I'm not accountable. It's quite a question like will I have problems with my new car. All will answer no, but if you take a look into the workshop, you will know that it is not true. In general you will may need some time to explore the new features. Depending on the program changes will be more or less big. But all programs evolved a lot...

3) You have a 7 day trial period. If the programs do not fit, you can still stay. However, a new Mac will probably not run older MacOS programs. You will need to change, even that you still own your CS4 perpetual license.

CC will run on both Windows and Mac computers and if you're using more than 2 computers you can get suspend a license on one and activate on a different one. I think that currently there is a promotional offer running depending on your region. You should act quickly..

Which apps do you use?

I have Photoshop PSD files from very early versions of PS that work just fine in PS CC.   Likewise, I have Illustrator AI files that work in CC.   And Acrobat PDF files have been no problem for me.

Dreamweaver does not use proprietarty file types so there's no problem opening HTML, CSS or JS files from earlier versions.  Code is code.  If one editor can handle it, they all can.

To be honest, I've never attempted to open CC proprietary files in older Creative Suite products because I don't have CS software anymore.   I use CC exclusively now.
