Question

v15.2.1 taking over an hour to download, still waiting

Im on a new M5 max MacBook Pro (18/40) with 64GB of RAM and internet download speeds of 1GB. I’m only at 39% and it's been an hour. Is this normal? Doesn’t seem like a version that should be taking this long.

Normally it should be more or less proportional to the speed of your Internet connection. If you have gigabit download, the download + installation shouldn’t take more than a minute or two.

If you are seeing normally fast download speeds for all other Internet connections you try on the same computer such as a speed test, but the Adobe update is downloading slowly, then that typically means the problem is at Adobe servers, or somewhere between the Adobe servers and your location, and is not something you can control.

If you just got an M5 Max 18/40, that should run Lightroom Classic faster than most laptops out there, especially for GPU-dependent features.

This can happen occasionally, especially if many users are trying to install the update at the same time. Cancel the download and try again tomorrow.

I’ve seen such already on my side. I tried it on the next day and it worked.

Update: at 54% after 1 hour and 10 minutes, the update suddenly completed. Still a bit curious if it was expected to take this long though?

If Adobe is experiencing high traffic or the tubes are clogged up, yes that can happen. Annoying but that’s the Internet.
