I have downloaded and installed Lightroom 6 to my new computer.  It will not validate.

I get a message, "Serial number Provided is valid, but a qualifying product could not be found on this computer"

Correct answer John Waller

You've entered an upgrade serial number for version 6.

To verify that you are eligible to use the upgrade serial number, the Lightroom 6 installer has searched your hard drive for an earlier version of Lightroom already installed.

Since it could not find an earlier version, it is now asking you to enter the serial number from an earlier version (version 5 or earlier) so that you version 6 upgrade serial number can be accepted.

Thanks.

That was it. Of course no way I could find that serial number now, years later.

I finally found a chat room and got the problem solved.
