Hi There,
I am totally new in the business and absolutely clueless.
Just for fun I downloaded the free test version of adobe Lightroom.
Unfortunately al little late, but now I was wondering what happens after the 2 free weeks?
Will it become an monthly payed membership on its own or will it just stop working?

In the beginning I thought you can, if you like the program, simply buy it without monthly payed subscription.
but thats not an option, right?

thank you so much for your help! I tried to find the answer already but I could not.
Peace, Leonie

Hi Leonie,

There are 2 versions of Lightroom: Lr Classic CC and the cloud based Lr CC. Which one do you have?

It's a 7 days test version.

It stops working. For Lightroom Classic CC that means that you still have access to the library but no more to the develop, and different other modules. See here: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/cancel-cc-subscription-youll-lose-work-will/

It should still be valid!

For Lr CC things are getting more complicated. Lr CC is cloud based and loads your pictures to the cloud. The free CC App allows for 2 Gb of cloud space, the paid subscription is available with 1Tb of cloud space.

In the beginning I thought you can, if you like the program, simply buy it without monthly paid subscription.

No, except you want to invest in Lr6 which is still available. But there will be no upgrades, bug fixes and no new camera and lens support.

thank you so much for your help!
I think I have the Lightroom Cloud version. In the right upper corner, there is the cloud symbol and when I click on it it says (right now) 5mb of 1tb used. So I guess I use this cloud without even knowing any difference. great

I am most afraid of some hidden costs, not about the eventually lost pictures.
So if both versions will just stop working until I monthly "rent"  a full version, I am totally fine!

actually, I just wanted to try Lightroom with a bunch of presets I got, but it seems like they don't work here since its just the 7 days tester...

thanks again for your support! as you see: I have no idea of anything here

The presets are probably for Lr Classic CC and that's a different trial.
