What is the Creative Cloud?

I have been using PS5 for several years and feel its time to get up to date! However my problem is understanding the concept of "AdobeCloud". I simply need the current version of Photoshop(CC?) Is this downloaded to my computer (which I believe to be compatible) or do I do all my work "online" ? If it is the latter my upload speed is less than 2 and download barely 3.

Creative Cloud is a marketing term and distribution process

Programs are downloaded and installed on your computer

You do not need to be constantly online to work. You will need to be able to download and install the software and have a connection to sign in/license the usage.

If you only use Photoshop - you should definitely look at the Photography Plans.

It is a better value than downloading and buying a single app:

Creative cloud is a kind of marketing hype. There are cloud elements in the software (sharing, collaboration, cloud space like Dropbox) but the essences are still the programs you knew with more and better features, some bugs fixed, some new bugs introduced.

The big change is the subscription model. You do not buy but subscribe.

Short answer:

You download the program and all work is done on your computer.

The only times you need to connect to the internet are to download updates and programs and you also have to sign in about every three months to keep the program working on your computer.
