Question

What is wrong with my serial number?

I have just purchased Photoshop CS6 on line from Isoftware.co.uk. This is an electronic download. I received a download link and a serial number from them and the product has installed OK (well eventually - see separate thread) and seems to be working. It activated OK and I was prompted to go online to complete registration.

I am a long time adobe user so had my ID OK. However, it would not accept the serial number as valid so I could not register the product. It probably doesn't matter too much but I generally prefer to register my products just in case of later problems.

It was also interesting/irritating that my valid UK address apparently does not meet Adobe standards. It is OK with Royal Mail who set the standard so why is it not OK with Adobe!! This is taking validation to excessive lengths.

Please advise about the serial number.

Thanks.

KeithR16 I would recommend contacting our support team so they can verify the validity of your serial number.  They can also register your software if it has not been already registered during the activation process.  If you were able to activate the software using your Adobe ID then it is likely that your software is already registered to that account.

For the best assistance, I recommend our chat support at http://adobe.ly/yxj0t6.  Our chat representatives can provide a personalized experience to resolve the issue you have described.

Checked with support via chat. Turns out that it is a volume license that is registered with someone else. I presume it is with a representative of the company I bought it from.

It seems a bit odd to me that having bought a piece of software, it is registered with someone else. I will be checking with the company next week. Is this normal practice?

Keith I have seen similar entries for other Volume License customers.  It depends on how a company wishes to have their licenses managed.  You should be able to complete a transfer of license process so that they reflect the proper ownership.

You can find more details regarding the transfer of license process at Transfer an Adobe product license - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/transfer-product-license.html.
