When trying to register Photoshop Elements with my serial number, only the numbers will show, not any letters in the number. Why?

Thank you for responding, Ronald. The number on the outside of the box, that's below the letters S/N, has the group of letters, VOOAE. There are four numbers before the letters and five numbers after the letters. The same number is on the scanner, under a bar code.
