When updating Ps CS4 Mac, updates download but won't install.

When updating Ps CS4 Mac, updates download but won't install. Get "error" message with 3 choices, e.g., "try again". Have an Intel Mac Pro tower running OSX 10.6.8. The Ps works fine, but would like the updates. What's going on?

Are you manually downloading the updates? Can you give us the exact error message.

First off, I said upGRADES when I meant upDATES. Sorry for the confusion. In Ps, I go to Help and then Updates. They download but when installation starts, the following dialog box appears:

(Quote) Installer Message. Please close the following application and retry to continue installing update: Photoshop. [Me: How can you retry with Ps not launched?]

(Quote) The installation process encountered a problem. Please choose from the following options. [3 buttons follow:]

Run this update again.

Stop installing and continue later.

Cancel current update and continue installing the remaining updates.  [End quote]
