Where to put Content Discs/how to download ESD properly?

Hi all,

I have just downloaded some extra content discs (Illustrator, InDesign and Premiere Pro) and they are now sitting on my desktop; do I leave them there or should I put them somewhere better? And when I use any of those three programmes, will they automatically know where these extra bits of content are located?

Sorry if this is basic question.

Thanks.

I've just installed the Premier Pro and Encore Functional Content - there were installers included within each 'disk', however, the disk images for both ESD Illustrator CS6 and InDesign CS6 are still mounted on my desktop. What to I do with them? They show up as 'Devices' within Finder.

Thanks again.

Monk you would want to use the normal method of installing fonts for your operating system.  Since you are using Mac OS I would recommend that you open Font Book from the Applications folder and use that to install your fonts.  Then the fonts will be available in all of your applications and it will help prevent you from installing fonts which you may already have installed.

You may also want to look at the fonts you are adding to make sure they are something you will use prior to installing.

Monk I would recommend you check the disk images to see if there is any files or fonts which you would like to use and copy those files to your hard drive.  After that there is no need to have the additional content mounted.  You may want to save the disk images for later use on an External Hard Drive.  I would also recommend doing the same with the installation files incase you need them again in the future.

    Hi Jeff,

Thanks very much for replying. Both the disk images (Illustrator and InDesign) contain a font folder each, so do I simply copy each folder across into the relevant Application folder?

Within my InDesign application folder, there is already a Fonts folder, so I guess I put the new file in here… Applications/Adobe InDesign CS6/Fonts; but within my Illustrator folder there isn't a Fonts folder that already exists, so where would I put this extra Fonts file? Do I simply create a new Fonts folder? The folders that are already in place are: Applications/Adobe Illustrator CS6/Configuration OR Cool Extras OR Legal OR Presets OR Scripting.

    Thanks in advance.
