Why does my Creative Cloud download box keep saying and is stuck on 'Connecting to the Server'?

I just purchased one pack and obviously in order to download the applications I need to have Creative Cloud. Creative Cloud has been downloading/loading on my ASUS laptop for the past 15-20 minutes and is still stuck on the first 5% and says "Connecting to the Server". Surely it doesn't take this long does it or is their a problem from my side?

    sign out and then back in to your cc desktop using the same adobe id used to subscribe, Sign out, Sign in | Creative Cloud Desktop app

    if you still can't connect after that, Sign in, activation, or connection errors | CS5.5 and later
