Question

Will small producers ever get a reasonable pay option?

If I make a few videos a year, I will never justify the $20 a month (for a year min) or the $240 yearly fee. Why won't adobe offer a payment plan on a per video cost? I get that allowing monthly fee for just one month (or pausing the monthly subscription fee) isn't cost effective for adobe, as some users would just publish all their videos twice a year for $40. But why not offer a per video payment. $5 per upload would equate to 10 uploads for $50 which the user could spread out however they wanted. If they start uploading more videos, then it will make sense to switch to the other plans. This payment method also provides an onramp to new users allowing them time without a large cost to learn and grow.

For now I'm using Davinci, but I'd rather have access to the full Adobe Creative cloud.

If I was in in position of making decisions on Adobe licences, I would make a free one for students and maybe a very low price for non-commercial use. I'm not a business person so can't say what that means for ongoing income but is based on the idea that the more people that use your produc, the better as many of them may become full paying customers in the future.

While Adobe have a lower price for students/education users, it can still be expensive for that group. My guess is that Adobe decided on a pricing model that makes is efficient for them to manage and results in high long term income. The price may be too high for some who are either learning or not making much money fom it, but these users are not Adobe's main market.
Not sure how helpful that is to you Greybeard but just giving my thoughts on why Adobe has this model.

I agree with your assessment. It's too bad. But we humans are pretty good at adapting to things we cannot change. I'll do fine with hodgepodging my way along with different products that work well and fit within my budget.

Thanks for the reply!

I should add that Unreal Engine 5 has an awesome plan that provides an onramp to anyone. It is arugable the best game engine available, and it is totally free to use, learn and create with. If you start making money with it, there is a teired payment system that grows with your income. Perfect solution!

Creative Cloud on a month-to-month plan costs about 50% more per month but you may cancel it anytime without penalty.  The downside is your monthly rate is subject to increases.  On an annual plan, your rate is guaranteed not to go up for 12 months.

Why doesn't every wedding photographer use a coin operated photo booth?  That's what you're asking for:  pro-level service at pay-to-play prices.

If you can't eek out enough to pay for tools with your hobby, don't use pro-level tools.  Get Premier Elements instead.  Or use another video editing tool that better fits your budget.

This didn't seem necessary. It certainly wasn't helpful. I'm sorry you missed my point, and that I am using other free tools.

you can subscribe for 1 month.  and you can do that episodically when you need to use adobe software.

Wow, is this recent? I looked specifically for this option about a year ago, and thought the monthly subscription was only with a 12 month commitment and couldn't be paused. Can I use the software on my computer while I am learning and then pay the monthly fee once I have created something? I would be happy to pay for a year, but be able to pause it. During summer for example, I have a saw mill to run and lots of woods work with little time for the computer, but in the winter months, after the snow comes, I have more time.

Thank you for the reply!
